Monday, February 7th, 2011
"The wrestling team gave Whitman-Hanson its first championship of the winter season with an exciting come from behind win over Hingham, 45-24 to capture their second straight Patriot league championship. Junior Colin McSweeney jumpstarted the comeback with an emotional match in which he pinned his opponent. One of the most exciting and pivotal moments of the meet came in the 171 pound weight class. With the two teams tied at 24, Chris Kellum staved off a pin in the opening seconds of his match and despite trailing the entire way, kept battling and found the energy to dominate the closing minute to record the victory and give his team a lead they would never relinquish. Greg McGrath earned a gold shirt performance and clinched the championship for the Panthers by pinning an opponent he had lost to earlier this season. Joe Peterson and Tommy Condon also registered pins in the victory." From Bob Rogers
