AWARD WINNERS
MVP Award: This award is given each year to honor the individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and made the most significant statistical contributions to the W-H Panther Wrestling Team.
Coach's Award: This award is given each year to the W-H wrestler who believes that this team and program is greater than any one of its individuals; places sportsmanship ahead of wins and losses; and mentally, physically, and socially helps young men and women become better student-athletes.
Warren Holmberg Award: Given in memory of long time fan, scout, parent and Hall of Famer Warren Holmberg to the W-H wrestler who has demonstrated the most enthusiasm and pure love of the sport as did Warren Holmberg in his many years of support for the Panther Wrestlers.
Josh Constant Award: Given in honor of former W-H Wrestling captain Josh Constant to the W-H wrestler who has displayed courage, sportsmanship and dedication in the face of adversity. His perseverance and commitment are an inspiration, as was Josh Constant in his 4 years wrestling for the Panthers.
Most Improved Wrestler: This award is presented to the W-H wrestler who has demonstrated the most significant improvement from the previous year, or from the beginning to the end of this season and is a testament to what hard work and perseverance can achieve.
Rookie of the Year: This award is presented to the first year W-H wrestler who has shown the most outstanding performance in his first season as a member of the W-H Panther Wrestling Team.
Most Outstanding Varsity Wrestler: This award is presented to the W-H varsity wrestler who has shown the most outstanding performance overall in both practice and competition.
Most Outstanding JV Wrestler: This award is presented to the W-H JV wrestler who has shown the most outstanding performance overall in both practice and competition.
Most Outstanding Freshman Wrestler: This award is presented to the W-H freshman wrestler who has shown the most outstanding performance overall in both practice and competition.
AFS Scholarship Award: This award will be provided to the graduating senior who best exemplifies what it takes to be a successful WH wrestler and member of the community. Careful consideration will be given to athletic success during their tenure as a WH wrestler, future academic and career goals, and a short summary of how the applicant believes wrestling at WHRHS may have prepared them for future success.
Special Recognition Award: This award is given on special occasions to honor significant contributions to the W-H wrestling program.
W-H Good Sportsmanship Award: This is an award that former coach Bob Gay presented to an individual in the sport outside of the W-H wrestling program who displayed outstanding sportsmanship as voted on by the team and coaches.
Boston Media Recognition: This section is for wrestlers, coaches, and teams who have been recognized by Boston Media for outstanding achievements.
